John Cage, How to Get Started – Invited Guest

In 2016, the John Cage Trust held a live performance of John Cage’s 1989 piece “How To Get Started” at the Bard Sound Symposium. I was one of the guest artists invited to perform this piece, which Cage designed to be a  “collaborative framework in which sound engineers capture and subsequently layer his extemporized monologue, which consisted of ten brief commentaries on topics then of interest. This amounted to an experiment having to do with thinking in public, before a live audience.” -howtogetstarted.org

It was a tremendous honor to perform alongside talented and seasoned artists and intellectuals, including famed experimental composer, Pauline Oliveros, who was then in the last year of her life.
